Dr. Albert G. Sanchez began inquiring about more effective and less toxic cancer treatments after losing his beautiful 32-year-old wife, Julia, to colon cancer in 1972. He and other family members dedicated themselves to helping others afflicted with this disease, searching for effectual cancer treatments and products, and disseminating information about them to the public. Many years later, they would be hit yet again with the loss of a loved one -their oldest daughter/sister, Tina – further strengthening their resolve to find an answer and provide hope so that others would not have to suffer.
The Band of Hope Foundation was officially established in December of 2003 as a non-profit organization. Our main mission is to support and assist people suffering from cancer, as well as their families. Secondarily, we fund ongoing research into alternative and complimentary cancer treatment modalities.
In our hearts, we feel that if all these efforts only help ONE person, then it is one less person that has to suffer from this disease in any way. To date, we have directly and indirectly supported thousands, and will keep striving to help this world find a way to better affect the hundreds of thousands of people every year who are losing their lives to this disease.
Unfortunately, little has changed in 50 years toward finding more effective treatments. It is disheartening that the disease we know as cancer has become so accepted in our modern world, and that more people are not outraged that every day 1,700 people die from a disease that should have a better survival rate after so many years of modern medicine and research. Currently, the only reason for improvement in cancer statistics has been due to early detection, not better treatments. Almost 1 in every 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime, and sadly most people just simply accept this as their fate, when so much could be done if we can come together and look for a better solution to a horrendous problem.
